How to Use Parental Control in Fortnite; A Complete Guide

Fortnite is one of the most popular games in the world, and children make up a sizable portion of its large popularity. Epic Games has a reasonably extensive set of Fortnite parental controls if you want to let your kids engage in the fun without exposing them to improper content or chats. Today on HiGift we teach you how to use parental control in Fortnite.

What is Fortnite Parental Control?

Because Fortnite is a multiplayer game, your children may find themselves playing with strangers in addition to their friends. Others are strangers, some of whom are children, while others are adults. You may disable both voice and text chat in Fortnite parental controls if you don’t want your children to interact with strangers. You can also block non-squad members from seeing your child’s in-game name and filter mature language.

There is also a parental option that allows you to examine playtime records on a daily or weekly basis to keep track of how much time your youngster is sinking into the game.

How to Turn on Fortnite Parental Controls

You’ll need to get your hands on one of your child’s devices to set up Fortnite parental controls because they must be switched on within the game. If your child plays on various platforms, such as the PC and the Nintendo Switch, you can set up parental controls on one and have them operate on all of them.

  1. Start Fortnite and join a lobby.

What Do the Individual Parental Controls Do?

Each of the Fortnite parental control choices includes a toggle switch that you can use to toggle it on and off. If you’re not sure what switching this toggle will accomplish for any of these settings, here’s a rundown of what each parental control option in Fortnite does:

FILTER MATURE LANGUAGE

Text chat is a feature in Fortnite that allows players to communicate by typing into the chat box. This option is available in the lobby of the competitive Battle Royale game, where your children can type to their peers. It’s also included in the co-op Save the World mode, where players can text chat with both friends and strangers.

To filter mature language in text chat, turn this setting on. To allow mature language such as cursing, turn this setting OFF.

HIDE YOUR NAME FROM NON-SQUAD MEMBERS

When your child is eliminated during a game, other players will usually see their in-game name. This option allows you to hide your child’s name from non-squad members. People in your child’s squad, including strangers if your child has opted to fill their squad with random people, will still see their name.

If this option is enabled, everyone who isn’t a member of your child’s squad will be referred to as “Player.” To allow everyone to see their name, turn this setting OFF.

HIDE NON-SQUAD MEMBER NAMES

This works in the same way as the previous setting, except it prevents your youngster from seeing other players’ names. Turn this on if you’re concerned about your child seeing improper names or contacting people outside of the game.

In your child’s game, turn this setting on to substitute other players’ names with “Player.” To allow your youngster to view the names of other participants, turn this setting OFF.

TURN VOICE CHAT ON AND OFF

Fortnite has a built-in voice chat feature. The audio chat becomes available when your child joins a party with his pals or fills their squad with strangers. Voice chat can be a fun way for your child and their friends to communicate, but it also allows them to communicate with strangers if they want to do so.

Toggle this option on to allow your youngster to use voice chat with other gamers. To prevent your youngster from utilizing voice chat, turn this option off.

ENABLE AND DISABLE TEXT CHAT

Text chat is available in Fortnite in a few different places, as previously discussed. This is the option you’re looking for if you want to prevent your child from utilizing text chat rather than just censoring explicit content.

To restrict your youngster from utilizing text chat, turn this setting on. If you want your youngster to be able to text chat in Fortnite, turn this setting off.

RECEIVE WEEKLY PLAYTIME REPORTS

This option is unique in that it has no bearing on your child’s in-game experience. Instead, you can use this function to receive Epic’s playtime reports, which show how much time your youngster has spent playing Fortnite. This is the option you’re looking for if you want to keep track of their gaming time.

Set this to WEEKLY if you want weekly reports, DAILY if you want daily reports, or OFF if you don’t want any Fortnite playtime reports.
